Welcome to pilatomurals.com Official website of artist Michael Pilato
Murals by the renowned artist, Michael Pilato, adorn buildings along the byways of State College, Pennsylvania, the home of the Pennsylvania State University. His works attract the attention of thousands of visitors annually, as well as local residents and business owners. But, inspiration comes most to Michael from the mouths of the children whose worlds are enlarged and enriched by the content, color and collage of the scenes depicted in Michael's monumental murals.
Michael's artistic training is not reserved to merely painting a pretty picture for others to enjoy, or to brightening an otherwise dreary street. He is a teacher both through the artistic presentation and in the public arena as well as an advisory consultant to many aspiring artists and organizations. Michael's murals intentionally involve a connection from mural to mural, people to mural, and people to people. He introduces his philosophy, his perspective of the surroundings and his vast array of experiences with true situations, people, and places. From the beginning of each project he involves his clients in the mural's conceptual development and design assuring that his ideas and ideals of community spirit are consistent with theirs. Likewise throughout the mural's growth and maturation, he continually communicates his passion for and moral beliefs in the above mutually accepted and understood ideas and ideals.

Inspiration, Lycoming County Mural update
posted 09-21-2007 by: Pilato Murals
First of all we would like to thank ALL of you who have supported this mural project. Our Towns 2010 and Michael Pilato could not have done this with out the many volunteers and contributors of this amazing undertaking. From 150 anticipated portraits to an incredible 350 and plus growth over the past two years, this mural has definietly been adopted by the community of Lycoming County and has taken new life and direction. "I am honored to have been chosen to portray this community." The hundreds of nominations that continue to roll in since 2005, the volunteer hours of nomination research and filing, and the incredible support of business members and individual support has made this project what it is today. Thank you!
Michael will continue to fnalize "rough-ins" and install additional panels to the upper levels of the mural to give it a more polished look. However, because of the extraordinary growth that this project has taken, he will be taking the project and his vision for the public arts into a much grander and more appropriate phase.
Through his current developments of the Public Art Academy, he will utilize this mural and all it encompasses to introduce his future students of art to the aspects of community building through public art.
Please stay posted on new and current developments with the Public Art Academy on this site. We will link to publicartacademy.org in the future.
